Newsletters

Welcome to our summer update. This month has seen two announcements from the Government setting out their intention to cap both non EEA immigration and redundancy payments in the civil service. We consider a case analysing when a breach of disciplinary procedure can amount to a breach of contract; another dealing with the enforceability of restrictive covenants; and the EAT has provided guidance on what constitutes a mental impairment under the Disability Discrimination Act. The Employment Tribunal Service has also issued its annual report. Finally, we discuss the results of our staff motivation survey.

We also look at two recent age discrimination cases which we hope you find of interest. Finally, we set out a reminder about the importance of having tailored policies to address issues relating to drug and alcohol use/abuse by employees.
