Shipping and marine

Our shipping and marine insurance group advises P&I clubs, insurance companies and underwriters, international broking houses, ship owners, charter companies, cargo owners, car carriers and (container) liner shipping companies.  We advise on all aspects including: hull, cargo, P&I claims, liability, yachts, contracts, collisions and groundings, salvage, ship and yacht building disputes, and cash in transit claims.

Aviation

We advise underwriters, aviation brokers, airlines worldwide and leasing companies on hull, loss of value / profits, third party liability, liability to passengers, aircrew, cargo, handling (SGHA), lease agreements, personal injury at airports, aviation litigation and contracts, aviation employment issues, contentious – administrative claims, and aircraft purchase contract, termination and lease back.

Road transport  

Our road transport experience includes advising on cargo, carriers liability, ADR (dangerous goods), CMR, LOTT, RHA, BIFA, warehouse liabilities, and insurance and reinsurance issues.   We act for insurance companies and underwriters, insurance brokers, carriers and warehouses.  

Our experience

Our MAT lawyers have been involved in numerous high-profile and varied cases.  From the Piper Alpha litigation involving the delayed placement of energy risk, to representing the insurers of a warehouse following the theft of designer French and Italian clothes.  A recent case of note is our involvement in the Spanair investigation, which was the largest aircraft accident in Europe in the past 25 years.
