Our planning and environment teams are ranked among the best in the industry.

Our team consists of lawyers and consultants. All of our planning team have local government backgrounds and are used to helping clients put together complicated and often politically sensitive development projects. We also have lawyers who specialise in environmental issues inherent in residential development and construction.

We provide commercially-focused advice to clients who are developing or selling old industrial sites, contaminated gas works or government sites. Each usually involves a huge acreage, public inquiries, compulsory purchase and compensation claims.

The number and frequency of European Directives concerning the environment are increasing. Our environmental law specialists can advise you on how these are being interpreted by the UK and Spanish Governments (and others) and their relevance to your commercial objectives.

Our experience

Most of our work has been for property developers and house builders in particular. We advise on the environmental and planning issues surrounding large and complex development projects, consents and licences.

We work with land owners and insurance companies and advise on chemical spills, pollution, contaminated land and asbestos matters. We defend clients involved in environmental prosecutions.

We also act for private and local authority land owners, highway authorities and the utilities.
