Environmental law

Environmental issues encompass everything from pollution to protection of wildlife.  Regulatory issues and the subsequent risks to organisations are real threats to normal business operations. Our environmental lawyers can help whether you’re a housebuilder dealing with  the discovery of a protected species on a plot of land slated for development or a high street retailer facing criminal proceedings when a contractor you employed improperly removed asbestos from the premises.

Environmental consultants can advise you on contamination and remediation issues but they won’t be able to advise you on liability matters.  That’s what we do.  The number and frequency of European Directives concerning the environment are on the increase.  Our environmental law specialists can advise you on how these are being interpreted in the UK and their relevance to your commercial objectives.

What we've done:

We’ve advised major house-builders on the environmental issues surrounding large and complex development projects, consents and licences.  We’ve worked with land owners and insurance companies and advised them on chemical spills, pollution, contaminated land and asbestos matters.  We have defended a number of environmental prosecutions.
