Captive insurance

Why come to us

As the cost of insurance continues to grow and cover becomes more restricted, more and more businesses are opting to self-insure their risk.  Captive managers too are having to deal with a greater volume of work and more complicated insurance risks than previously.  Setting up and managing a captive insurance company is more than a simple accounting exercise.  You need advice from legal specialists who work in the captive insurance industry, who understand the management of risk and who are used to dealing with the complex insurance structures and sometimes the litigation which arises.  That's us.

How we can help

Our skill lies in providing expert and impartial advice on how and where to set up your captive insurance company which complements that provided by your broker or consultant.  Our captive insurance lawyers advise you on how to structure your company and help you with the practicalities based on our personal experience.  If you are a captive manager, we can help you ensure your policy documentation is consistent and accurate and we can assist you with any fronting, insurance or reinsurance disputes that arise.

What we have done

We have provided advice on setting up captives to companies, associations and charities.  We have acted for captive managers in a range of insurance and reinsurance disputes.  We have advised companies on the disposal of unwanted captives and helped them through the complex regulatory issues involved.

To provide a wider service to captive managers we have undertaken a joint venture with Deloitte & Touche and Liberata to package litigation, forensic, accounting, general legal and actuarial support within a one-stop solution.
