Why come to us:
We are recognised as the leading product liability defence firm in the UK. Both Legal 500 and Chambers, independent guides to the legal profession, have ranked us as the outstanding providers for product liability legal services. We have acted in all of the major product liability claims in the UK that have been brought under the European Product Liability Directive.
How we can help:
We have advised manufacturers, producers and insurers on a wide range of industry sectors including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, agro-chemicals, vehicles, cosmetics, food and drink etc. Our team of product liability lawyers, with up to 20 years' experience in this area, are able to master new technology and to work closely with both in-house scientists, doctors or technicians and with independent experts to prepare a robust defence. We advise on all aspects of product safety, risk management and working with the media.
Our environmental litigation team advise companies and manufacturers threatened with litigation concerning injury claims from electromagnetic fields, agro-chemicals, pollution and toxic mould. We are also well known for our life sciences group who provide specialist advice to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, veterinary and agricultural companies, as well as insurers, in the UK and Europe and all aspects of regulatory, liability and product safety issues.
What we've done:
Our experience of product liability is second to none. We acted in the first claim in the UK, Relph -v- Yamaha, to make reference to the Consumer Protection Act 1987. We defended the National Blood Authority in the Hepatitis C litigation, the first substantive review in Europe of the scope and meaning of the Product Liability Directive. We are currently defending GlaxoSmithKline in the MMR Vaccine litigation. Our product liability lawyers' experience is complemented by our expertise in handling group actions and our skills in transnational litigation.
