Regeneration

Why come to us

Davies Arnold Cooper has a strong track record in advising on regeneration projects.  Our regeneration lawyers advise on brownfield development, mixed use development, residential development and commonhold structures. Our capability includes specialists in planning law, environmental law, real estate finance, construction law and insurance law. Clients include local authorities and leading property developers.

Our focus on understanding the environment in which our clients operate led us to commission a study into Thames Gateway regeneration and related housing trends.  Our regeneration lawyers recently acted for a leading developer on a major urban regeneration development in the Thames Gateway region.

What we’ve done

Epsom Cluster

Advising Crest Nicholson on Epsom Cluster, a joint partnership with Galliford Try on an English Partnerships Scheme in Epsom, Surrey.  The 54 hectacre development of three former hospital sites will provide 700 new homes, shops, parkland and subject to demand, a hotel.  The sustainable development will include the creation of a Community Development Trust and approximately one third of the homes will be allocated for affordable housing.

Thurrock

We acted for David Wilson Homes Limited in relation to all planning and property aspects of a development of a contaminated brownfield site comprising a jigsaw of land ownerships at Thurrock: assembling the site and ultimately procuring planning permission for 570 units.

This is a significant development for David Wilson Homes occupying a key position in the Thames Gateway and providing a real opportunity for urban regeneration.

Portishead Quays, Somerset

We are advising Persimmon and Crest Nicholson on this 10 - 15 year, 175 hectare mixed use urban regeneration project to create up to 4,000 dwellings, a 450 berth marina, a wildlife park, and 45,000 square metres of commercial/retail space.  This is virtually all brownfield regeneration.

Bath Western Riverside, Avon

We advised Crest Nicholson plc on its participation in a mixed use regeneration project in Bath.  The mixed use and commercial development site spans in total 35 hectare of brownfield land fronting the river Avon involving decontamination and flooding issues as well as the strict planning controls of a World Heritage site.

New England Quarter, Brighton

We advised Crest Nicholson on its joint venture with BioRegional Quintain Limited for the development of a landmark, eco-friendly development in the New England Quarter of Brighton.  The sustainable development project involves the development of up to 51 affordable and 121 open market units which will be one of the most environmentally sustainable projects of its kind in the UK and will be designed to achieve an Ecohomes rating of “Excellent”.
