Nick joined Davies Arnold Cooper upon qualification in 1990. He was made a partner in 1996 and is Head of the Property and Construction Insurance Group.

Nick has been involved in a number of significant and high profile matters over the years including successfully defending the coverage claim brought by the National Express Group Plc against Eagle Star following the Hatfield train derailment. He also pursued a £multi-million recovery for insurers following the Avonmouth chemical explosion at the premises of Albright and Wilson in 1996. Nick acts for various insurers on property recoveries, liability defence, policy coverage, South American insurance/reinsurance disputes, and fraudulent claims, notably arson.

Nick's expertise is recognised in both Legal 500 and Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession "the prolific Nick Young is a key figure in the firm's direct insurance work".

A member of the Forum of Arson Investigators Committee, a subsidiary of the Arson Prevention Bureau Nick is also a committee member of the Arson Control Forum (www.arsoncontrolforum.gov.uk) led by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. He was sponsored by the Arson Prevention Bureau and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to attend "Arson for Prosecutors", an intensive training course at the Federal Law Enforcement Centre in the USA.

Nick was part of a steering committee comprising insurance industry stakeholders, who commissioned MORI to undertake research into fraud in the commercial insurance arena published in September 2005.

Nick has been interviewed on a number of TV and radio programmes including BBC and Sky News in respect of a variety of fraud and other insurance-related issues.
